Minimally invasive surgery

Minimally invasive surgery is an effective surgical method that is less intrusive than traditional surgery. By using small incisions and instruments, we are able to create positive surgical outcomes that typically have minimal scarring, faster recovery times and shorter hospital stays.

What to expect during and after robotic surgery

One of the things people worry about with robot-assisted surgery is who is in control. The answer is that your surgeon is always 100 percent in control of the surgical tools and process. In other words, there are no literal "robots" involved, just surgeon-controlled robotic equipment.

Most of the time, your surgeon will sit at a console nearby and drive the procedure from start to finish. That will not change even though the specific equipment used in your surgery may vary depending on the procedure you're having.

The robotic surgery process is similar to the process of a traditional surgery. For example, you will most likely be under anesthesia throughout the operation and can expect to be in a recovery room afterward. However, one of the main differences between traditional and robotic surgery is that robotic surgery requires very small incisions, which provides multiple benefits for you.
